Founded in 1921, Sweetwater High School (SUHI) is one of the oldest high schools in San Diego County. Despite serving a diverse student body of over 2,800 students, of which approximately 84% qualify for free and reduced meals, SUHI is committed towards improving the test scores of their traditionally underrepresented students and has been recognized as a California Distinguished School. Located in South Central Los Angeles, Heritage College-Ready Academy High School (CRAHS) is an urban high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. 98% of the 152 sophomores enrolled in the ’10-’11 school year were English Learners who scored Far Below Basic on the previous year’s California Standards Test. Granada Hills Charter High School, 4,100 students, of which 37.3% qualify for free or reduced lunch, come from diverse backgrounds and speak more than 40 languages at home. Revolution’s Mentor Session technology delivers dynamically differentiated instruction for each student. A Mentor Session is invoked when a student offers an incorrect answer. The Mentor Session breaks the question down into its component problems, guiding the student through the solution process and building up weak or missing skills. Mentor Sessions diagnose specific skill gaps and provide specific tutorials to meet the student’s individual needs, building back to success on the original question. Real-time, data-driven reporting provides the teacher with valuable information about each student.
